Major works to Porters and Walters
In order to preserve the Charities assets and appearance of this historic building. Extensive works including replacing rear windows and doors, chimney pots, roof repairs, new solid wood cornice and fascias were undertaken and completed in 2023.
We are delighted that this Grade II listed building has been restored to its former glory.
Major works to St. Leonards House
The major works to St. Leonard's House were completed in 2024. The works included replacing the rear windows and doors and the roof. Replacing timbers, chimney stacks and extensive works to repair the fabric of the building. Including a makeover of the ornate pediment sculpture.
St. Leonard's is now sound and the overall appearance has greatly improved as you will see from the before and after photos below.
Welcome News from Historic England
In September the Trustees received welcome news from Historic England. In 2006 St Leonard's and Porters and Walters were added to the Heritage at risk register because of decay and dilapidation. We are delighted the share that following a review of these Grade II listed buildings in July 2025 the building the conditions of the buildings had improved to the extent that they have now been removed from the at risk register.
Major works to Fullers Cottages
The attention has now shifted to Fullers Cottages. Works to replace the roof and guttering are under way. These works include restoring the ornate entrance doors and removing pebble dash from the front bays to address damp issues. The overall fabric of the building will be greatly improved on completion of the works.
Garden Makeover
Currently we are turning our attention to our open spaces. The gardens are being treated to a makeover. This involves removing decayed shrubs, battling with invasive ivy and replanting. Watch this space.
