What we are providing

The Charities moved to the present site in 1904.  Set between Nightingale Road and Truro Road, N22, there are 32 Almshouse accommodation units, set over 4 separate buildings. 

Two of the buildings are Grade II listed properties.

The homes are set in pleasant communal open space a peaceful setting within the inner city.

St Leonard's House

(Judge Fuller's Almshouses)

By Alfred W. S. Cross, 2 storey symmetrical building providing accommodation in 4 units.  Built in 1904 the building demonstrates quality, character and charm and is included in the Statutory List of Buildings with Architectural or Historical Interest.


Porters & Walters

Built in 1904 2 storey range of 4 houses each containing 4 flats.  The 4 houses form one building, each having 2 bay windows with a door in-between.  Cornices of ground floor bays form a hood over very impressive large round headed doors.   The building is also included in the Statutory List of Buildings with Architectural or Historical Interest. 

This building has recently undergone major refurbishment works.

Fullers Cottages

Adjacent to St. Leonards house (Judge Fullers House)  A row of 6 single storey charming Almhouses built in a similar style.  These buildings are not listed but form part of the historic group built in 1904. 



Lloyd Thomas Court

Added in the late 20th century it is a single storey complex of 6 bungalows and the clerk's office set around a courtyard on the Truro Road side of the property. Built in 1968 by the Lloyd Thomas Charity for Women and Girls it was then handed over to United Charites for management.
